Dance Class Dress Code & Uniforms
The Revolution Dance Academy dress code sets the required attire and shoes for each class at our Tenafly, NJ studio. Uniforms are mandatory for all RDA classes and are purchased through the studio. Proper dancewear lets instructors see alignment, keeps dancers safe, and builds a sense of belonging in every class. Uniform cost depends on the class your dancer is enrolled in, and dance shoes are purchased separately.
What Should My Child Wear to Dance Class?
Dancers should wear the required uniform for their specific discipline. Ballet, jazz, tap, acro, hip hop, and contemporary each have their own attire and footwear requirements, listed below by class so Bergen County families can prepare for the first day.
How Do I Order a Uniform?
Uniforms are ordered through the studio. Families registering after the season begins can submit the uniform order form below and the RDA team will confirm sizing and cost for your dancer's class.
Dress Code by Discipline

Required Attire
RDA Tank Glimmer Dress: blue for Tiny Twos (ages 2 to 3), purple for Tiny Tots ages 3 to 4, pink for Tiny Tots ages 4 to 5 and Jazzerinas. Tiny Tumblers wear the pink Tank Glimmer Dress or the RDA crop top / leotard. Tots Hops wear the REbel T-shirt.
Footwear
Pink ballet slippers (Tiny Twos, Tiny Tots). Tan jazz shoes (Jazzerinas). Clean sneakers for class, white for the recital (Tots Hops). Barefoot (Tiny Tumblers).
Tights and Bottoms
Pink tights with the dress. Dance-friendly bottoms for Tots Hops and Tiny Tumblers.

Where to Find Dance Shoes
Local stores are the easiest way to size your dancer: Beyond the Barre (244 Westwood Ave., Westwood, NJ 07675) and The Dance Bag (700 Paramus Park, Paramus, NJ 07652, first floor next to Sephora in Paramus Park Mall).
Amazon picks the studio has checked: ballet slippers in light pink (preschool, dancers 5 and up), tan jazz shoes (kids, womens sizing), black tap shoes (kids, womens sizing) and tan turners as an option for contemporary. Any clean sneaker is welcome for the year, but white sneakers are needed for the recital.
Dancewear sites: Discount Dance, Bloch and Capezio. These are suggestions rather than requirements. Alternatives are welcome, and the studio is happy to confirm whether a shoe is right for your dancer.
